STUDENT ACTIVITIES:
1. TJCAA State Convention - held
on the campus of a different agricultural university annually.
Participation
in:
- Quiz contests in agronomy, animal science,
horticulture, and agricultural economics
- Extemporaneous Speaking Contest
- Outstanding Student Competition - first and
second place students receive scholarships of
$5,000 and $2,500, respectively
- Outstanding Chapter Award Competition
- Outstanding Scrapbook Competition
- State Officer elections - President, 1st
Vice-President, 2nd Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer, Reporter,
Parliamentarian, Sentinel
- Association with students from other community
colleges and universities
- Opportunities to visit campuses of different
universities
- Opportunities for advisement from universities'
instructors
COMMUNITY COLLEGE BENEFITS:
1. TJCAA members have the
opportunity to:
- Promote leadership and fellowship among
community college agricultural students
- Promote scholarships among community college
agricultural students
- Promote competitive activities among community
college agriculture clubs
- Encourage cooperative spirit among community
college agricultural students
2. Agricultural Consortium of
Texas membership
- TJCAA members have a voice in ACT
proceedings. TJCAA has one vote.
- TJCAA participates in the initiation, support,
coordination, and implementation of agricultural research and educational
programs.
- TJCAA members are better able to cooperate with
ACT member universities on such issues as transfer courses, possible
scholarship opportunities, and joint student projects issues as transfer
courses, possible scholarship opportunities, and joint student projects with
the state-wide university students' organization.
- TJCAA members are encouraged to attend all ACT
fall and spring general meetings.
